- Background/Overview /establishment and college summary
Aksum University College of Health Sciences established in 2010. During its establishment the college has only one academic program (Public Health) under it having 45 undergraduate students. Currently the college is training more than 1000 undergraduate and postgraduate students in 15 different programs. The college is also doing problem solving researches and community services in different health and health related thematic areas. Its main focus is towards improving the quality of education, conducting innovative problem solving health researches and conducting diverse community service activities. Currently, the college constitutes three schools (under those there are more than 20 departments), seven departments and eight running offices having more than 480 academicians. As one of the Ethiopian higher education institution, it has the following three main mandates.
- Teaching Learning: train and produce health professionals who are competent in health science knowledge, attitude and skill and other values of expertise. To ensure quality of education the college has different equipped skill laboratories like biomedical science, anesthesia, nursing and midwifery laboratories. In addition to that there are about four computer lab rooms for students and staff.
- Research: conduct problem solving health and health related researches
- Community Service: intervene and/empower the community in solving prioritized health problems of the community

In teaching and learning process, undertaking problem based research and community service becoming the leading department by 2025 in top ten Ethiopian health professional training Universities.
