Aksum, May 27, 2026 — Aksum University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Imagine 1 Day International Organization to collaborate on the implementation of the Leaders in Teaching Ethiopia (LiTE) Program. The agreement was signed by Professor Gebreyesus Brhane, President of Aksum University, and a representative from Imagine 1 Day. The five-year LiTE program ( 2025 – November 2030) aims to significantly improve the quality, equity, and relevance of secondary education across Ethiopia. Through this partnership, Aksum University will serve as a key academic and implementation hub in Tigray, focusing on training new College of Teacher Education (CTE) instructors, providing Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for in-service teachers, strengthening instructional leadership, promoting gender equity and female leadership in education, and supporting teacher communities of practice and long-term sustainability. The collaboration aligns with the Ministry of Education’s Competency-Based Curriculum and the Alternative Teacher Training Framework. Professor Gebreyesus Brhane expressed the university’s commitment to leveraging its faculty expertise and regional presence to enhance teacher education and improve student learning outcomes in Tigray. This partnership represents another important milestone in building a more resilient and high-quality education system in Ethiopia.
