Aksum University, proudly hosted a National Curriculum Validation Workshop, a milestone event dedicated to advancing the quality and relevance of higher education in Ethiopia. The workshop brought together academic leaders, industry representatives, and curriculum experts to validate revised curricula for 12 academic programs, including 11 undergraduate and 1 postgraduate program, all aligned with Outcome-Based Education (OBE) principles.

In his opening address, Professor Gebreyesus Brhane, President of Aksum University, extended a warm welcome to all participants and applauded the dedication of academic staff involved in revising and presenting the curricula. He emphasized that continuous curriculum improvement is central to fulfilling the university’s vision as an action-oriented Applied Science University, where education meets real-world demands. He further expressed appreciation to the Academic Vice President’s Office, Academic Program Directorate, college deans, campus heads, and the broader Aksum University community for their unwavering commitment.

Mr. Tesfaye Negewo, Ministry of Education representative, commended Aksum University for taking the initiative and highlighted the vital role curriculum reform plays in driving academic excellence. He encouraged all stakeholders to embrace innovation, inclusivity, and industry engagement, especially through the integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) within online and hybrid learning modalities.
Dr. Gzachew Yonas, from Education and Training Authority, emphasized the necessity of curriculum revisions to meet both national and international educational standards, ensuring programs remain relevant and competitive.
Mr. Beyene Gebremichael, Director of the Academic Programs Directorate, detailed the university’s transformation journey towards Outcome-Based Education, which prioritizes outcomes, digital content creation, and leadership. “Together,” he noted, “we move toward a future of quality.”
