Aksum University conducted a Digital Content Development Workshop on August 14, 2026, aimed at sharing practical experiences gained in developing digital content and transitioning selected academic programs to blended and fully online modalities.
The workshop brought together Academic Directors, Deans, Officers, Department Heads, and senior academic staff from the Main Campus, College of Health Sciences and Comprehensive Specialized Hospital Campus, as well as Shire Campus participants joining virtually.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Mulugeta Berihu, Vice President for Academic Affairs, reaffirmed Aksum University’s commitment to digital transformation. He highlighted the University’s systematic selection of MSc in Accounting and Auditing and MSc in Information Technology for blended delivery, and Master of Business Administration (MBA) for fully online delivery. He also commended the collective efforts that have enabled the University to reach this important milestone and encouraged other academic units to embrace similar initiatives to remain competitive and advance the University’s digital transformation agenda.
Practical experiences from the digital content development process were shared by Mr. Medhanye Kahsu of the Faculty of Computing Technology, and Mr. Goitom Weldemariam and Mr. Daniel Niguse of the College of Business and Economics. The overall process, including the rigorous academic, instructional design, quality assurance, and institutional steps involved in digital content development and program transition, was presented by Mr. Zenawi Kiflay, Learning Designer and Technologist.
The presentations generated constructive reflections, compliments, and questions from participants, with the respective concerned bodies providing clarifications. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to advancing digital learning initiatives and called for continued capacity-building and training to strengthen the University’s transition toward quality online and blended education.
