Aksum University Unveils Mandatory Digital Pedagogy to Forge a Future-Ready Graduate Cohort AKSUM, ETHIOPIA – Aksum University has formally inaugurated its institutional orientation for the freshman class of 2025, focusing on a strategic imperative to equip students with critical digital competencies. Under the directive of the University’s E-Learning Directorate, all incoming students are now required to complete two cornerstone programs: the Student Success Suite (SSS) and the 5 million Coders Initiative, designed to dramatically enhance academic performance and market readiness. In his inaugural address, Professor Gebreyesus Brhane, President of Aksum University, underscored the necessity for students to proactively engage with structured digital learning ecosystems. He articulated that these platforms are instrumental in reinforcing academic pathways and cultivating a competitive edge. “Active participation in the Student Success Suite and the 5 million Coders Initiative is paramount to fortifying students’ employability, digital fluency, and overall standing in an increasingly dynamic labor market,” stated Prof. Gebreyesus. The initiative is a core component of the University’s mission to produce technologically adept graduates. The Student Success Suite, an integrated digital curriculum comprising many online courses developed in partnership with Arizona State University, is designed for completion within the academic year. Concurrently, the 5 million Coders Initiative will immerse students in foundational programming and digital skills, addressing the global demand for tech-savvy professionals. According to Dr. Mehamed Ahmed, Director of E-Learning, the orientation is critical for acclimating freshmen to the modalities of online education and instilling the principles of continuous, lifelong learning. The University has commenced an official email activation and enrollment campaign for the SSS, which will continue through November 10, 2025. The successful implementation of this mandatory program is projected to impact approximately 3,100 freshman students. This move positions Aksum University at the forefront of pedagogical innovation in higher education and signals a profound commitment to graduating a cohort prepared to excel and lead in the digital economy.

አክሱም፣ ኢትዮጵያ – የአክሱም ዩኒቨርሲቲ አዲስ ገቢ ተማሪዎችን ወሳኝ በሆኑ ዲጂታል ብቃቶች ለማስታጠቅ ትኩረት ያደረገውን የተቋም አቀፍ የእንኳን ደህና መጣችሁ መርሃ ግብር በይፋ አስጀምሯል። በዩኒቨርሲቲው የኢ-ለርኒንግ ዳይሬክቶሬት መመሪያ መሠረት፣ ሁሉም አዲስ ገቢ ተማሪዎች የአካዳሚክ አፈጻጸማቸውን እና ለገበያ ዝግጁነታቸውን በእጅጉ ለማሳደግ ታስበው የተዘጋጁትን ሁለት መሰረታዊ ፕሮግራሞች ማጠናቀቅ አለባቸው- እነሱም የተማሪ ስኬት ስብስብ (Student Success Suite – SSS) እና 5 ሚሊዮን ኮዴሮች ኢኒሼቲቭ ናቸው።

የአክሱም ዩኒቨርሲቲ ፕሬዝዳንት ፕሮፌሰር ገብረየሱስ ብርሃነ በመክፈቻ ንግግራቸው ተማሪዎች በተዋቀሩ የዲጂታል ትምህርት ሥርዓቶች (ecosystems) ውስጥ ንቁ ተሳትፎ ማድረግ አስፈላጊ መሆኑን አሳስበዋል። እነዚህ መድረኮች የአካዳሚክ ጎዳናዎችን በማጠናከር እና ተወዳዳሪነትን በመፍጠር ረገድ ትልቅ ሚና እንዳላቸው ገልጸዋል። ፕሮፌሰር ገብረየሱስ “በተማሪ ስኬት ስብስብ እና በ5 ሚሊዮን ኮዴሮች ኢኒሼቲቭ ውስጥ ንቁ ተሳትፎ ማድረግ የተማሪዎችን የሥራ ዕድል፣ የዲጂታል ብቃት እና በአጠቃላይ በአሁኑ ተለዋዋጭ የሠራተኛ ገበያ ውስጥ ያላቸውን አቋም ለማጠናከር ወሳኝ ነው” ብለዋል።

ይህ ተነሳሽነት (ኢኒሼቲቭ) ዩኒቨርሲቲው በቴክኖሎጂ የተካኑ ምሩቃንን ለማፍራት ካለው ተልዕኮ ዋነኛ አካል ነው። ከአሪዞና ስቴት ዩኒቨርሲቲ ጋር በመተባበር የተዘጋጁ በርካታ የመስመር ላይ ኮርሶችን የያዘው የተቀናጀ ዲጂታል ሥርዓተ ትምህርት የሆነው የተማሪ ስኬት ስብስብ (SSS) በአካዳሚክ ዓመቱ ውስጥ እንዲጠናቀቅ ታስቦ የተዘጋጀ ነው። በተመሳሳይ ጊዜ፣ 5 ሚሊዮን ኮዴሮች ኢኒሼቲቭ ተማሪዎችን በመሠረታዊ የፕሮግራሚንግ እና የዲጂታል ክህሎቶች ውስጥ እንዲዘፈቁ በማድረግ ዓለም አቀፍ የቴክኖሎጂ ችሎታ ላላቸው ባለሙያዎች ያለውን ፍላጎት ለመሙላት ይረዳል።

በኢ-ለርኒንግ ዳይሬክተር በዶ/ር መሃመድ አህመድ አስተያየት፣ የእንኳን ደህና መጣችሁ መርሃ ግብሩ (Orientation) አዲስ ገቢ ተማሪዎች የመስመር ላይ ትምህርት ዘዴዎችን እንዲላመዱ እና ቀጣይነት ያለው የሕይወት ዘመን ትምህርት መርሆችን እንዲቀስሙ ወሳኝ ነው። ዩኒቨርሲቲው ለSSS ይፋዊ የኢሜይል ማግበር እና ምዝገባ ዘመቻ የጀመረ ሲሆን ይህም እስከ ኅዳር 10 ቀን 2025 ይቀጥላል። የዚህ አስገዳጅ ፕሮግራም በተሳካ ሁኔታ መተግበር ወደ 3,100 የሚጠጉ አዲስ ገቢ ተማሪዎችን ይነካል ተብሎ ይጠበቃል።

ይህ እርምጃ የአክሱም ዩኒቨርሲቲን በከፍተኛ ትምህርት ውስጥ ባለው የፔዳጎጂ ፈጠራ (የማስተማር ስልት ፈጠራ) ግንባር ቀደም አድርጎ ያስቀምጣል እንዲሁም በዲጂታል ኢኮኖሚ ውስጥ ልህቀትና አመራር ለመስጠት ዝግጁ የሆነ የተማሪዎች ስብስብ ለማስመረቅ ያለውን ጥልቅ ቁርጠኝነት ያሳያል።
