Axum, Ethiopia, July 25, 2025 – Aksum University College of Health Science (AKU CHS) and its Comprehensive Specialized Hospital (CSH), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Axum City Administration, have officially launched their annual summer volunteer program, commencing with a successful blood donation drive.

Coordinated by the Under VPRTT Community Service Directorate, this initiative as was well introduced by Dr.Gebrehiwot Teklehaimanot (Chief executive director of AKU_ CHS&CSH) aims to address various community health needs, provide support for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), assist the children of martyrs, and enhance prison support, along with engaging in environmental efforts.

The Summer Health and Community Campaign is scheduled to run from July 25 to September 10, 2025, and includes planned activities such as treatment and screening of Chronic Health problems , health Education, blood donation campaign, tree planting, hygiene awareness campaigns, and continued support for prison centers.

Mr. Tkue, Mayor of Axum Town, commended the CSH’s dedication to community service, describing the program as “crucial” for Axum, a central hub for visitors. He stressed the urgency of hygiene and environmental efforts, encouraging volunteers to “think critically” in their approach.

This campaign continues the legacy of impactful community service established by AKUCHS and CSH, building on last year’s successful blood donation initiative, with logistical support managed by the CHS Campus.
