This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is made on 24 December 2025, between Aksum University (AU), a public higher education institution established under the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, located at the historical city of Aksum, Tigray Regional State, hereinafter referred to as “AU”, and Gumaye Foundation (GF), a legally registered non-profit organization working to preserve, promote, and advance culture, education, and sustainable development in Ethiopia, hereinafter referred to as “GF”. Both parties, hereinafter collectively referred to as “the Parties”, recognise their shared interests in promoting cultural identity, education, peace, research, and community development, and therefore agree to cooperate within the framework of this MoU. The purpose of this MoU is to establish a framework for collaboration between AU and GF in the following, but not limited to, thematic areas: Culture, Heritage, and Tourism — with special focus on ancient heritage materials of Central Tigray, Literacy and Education, Peace and Stability, Environment and Climate Change, Research and Innovation, Training and Development, Humanitarian issues and emergency responses.
