Aksum University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ethiopia Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) to foster job creation for students and promote entrepreneurship among faculty, with a special focus on women and youth.
The agreement was formally signed on Hidar 23,2018 (Ethiopian Calendar), corresponding to December 3, 2025. The primary objectives outlined in the MoU are to enhance student employability through entrepreneurship and to equip teaching staff with the skills to foster a culture of innovation and business creation.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, EDI representatives Mr. Haftu Haile and Mr. Temesgen emphasized their commitment to a strong collaborative partnership with Aksum University, pledging to work closely to implement the agreed-upon initiatives.
Aksum University President, Professor Gebreyesus Brhane, expressed his satisfaction with the conclusion of the agreement. He further stressed the importance of moving swiftly from signing to action, stating, “This document should not just remain a signed agreement; it must quickly transition into practical implementation.”
The Ethiopia Entrepreneurship Development Institute is a national institution tasked with cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset and supporting business development across Ethiopia. This partnership with Aksum University aligns with broader national efforts to address youth unemployment and stimulate economic growth by empowering educational institutions to become hubs for innovation and practical skill development.
አክሱም ዩኒቨርሲቲ ከተማሪዎች የስራ እድል ፈጠራን ለማስፋፋት እና በአካዳሚክ ሰራተኞች ዘንድ ስራ ፈጠራን ለማበረታታት፣ በተለይም በሴቶች እና ወጣቶች ላይ ትኩረት በማድረግ፣ ከኢትዮጵያ የስራ ፈጠራ ልማት ኢንስቲትዩት (ኢዲአይ) ጋር የመግባቢያ ሰነድ (MoU) ተፈራርሟል።
ስምምነቱ በይፋ የተፈረመው በኢትዮጵያ አቆጣጠር ህዳር 23 ቀን 2018 ዓ.ም ሲሆን ይህም ታህሳስ 3 ቀን 2025 GC.በመግባቢያ ሰነዱ ላይ የተዘረዘሩት ዋና ዋና ዓላማዎች በስራ ፈጠራ አማካኝነት የተማሪዎችን የሥራ ዕድል ማሻሻል እንዲሁም የማስተማር ሰራተኞችን የፈጠራ እና የንግድ ሥራ ባህልን በሚያዳብር ክህሎት ማስታጠቅ ነው።
በፊርማ ሥነ-ሥርዓቱ ላይ ንግግር ያደረጉት የኢዲአይ ተወካዮች የሆኑት አቶ ሀፍቱ ኃይሌ እና አቶ ተመስገን ከአክሱም ዩኒቨርሲቲ ጋር ጠንካራ የትብብር አጋርነት ለመፍጠር ያላቸውን ቁርጠኝነት አፅንዖት ሰጥተዋል፤ እንዲሁም የተስማሙባቸውን ተግባራት በቅርበት ለመተግበር ቃል ገብተዋል።
የአክሱም ዩኒቨርሲቲ ፕሬዝዳንት ፕሮፌሰር ገብረየሱስ ብርሃነ ስምምነቱ በመጠናቀቁ ደስታቸውን ገልጸዋል። በመፈረም ብቻ ከመወሰን ወደ ተግባር በፍጥነት መሸጋገር አስፈላጊ መሆኑን ሲገልጹም፣ “ይህ ሰነድ የተፈረመ ስምምነት ሆኖ ብቻ መቅረት የለበትም፤ በፍጥነት ወደ ተግባራዊ ትግበራ መሸጋገር አለበት” ብለዋል።
የኢትዮጵያ የስራ ፈጠራ ልማት ኢንስቲትዩት በመላው ኢትዮጵያ የሥራ ፈጣሪነት አስተሳሰብን ለማዳበር እና የንግድ ሥራ ልማትን ለመደገፍ የተቋቋመ ብሔራዊ ተቋም ነው። ከአክሱም ዩኒቨርሲቲ ጋር የተደረገው ይህ ሽርክና የትምህርት ተቋማት ለፈጠራ እና ለተግባራዊ ክህሎት ልማት ማዕከል እንዲሆኑ በማብቃት የወጣቶችን ስራ አጥነት ለመፍታት እና የኢኮኖሚ እድገትን ለማነቃቃት ከሚደረገው ሰፊ ሀገራዊ ጥረት ጋር የተጣጣመ ነው።
