Aksum University, in partnership with various organizations, held a research conference.

On August 23, 2017, Aksum University in collaboration with the Aksum City Culture and Tourism Office, Tigray Bureau of Culture and Tourism and the Aksum Zion Monasteries orthodox church organized a research study entitled “Aini Wari: The Foundation of Peace, Hope and Unity of Tigray”. Aini wari Conference.

The Mayor of Aksum, Ato Tikue Hailu, welcomed the participants at the opening of the religious and cultural conference. He said that we Aksumites are the foundation of all histories and we should not only know history but also benefit from our history.

In addition, Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer, Dr. Mekonnen Aregay, welcomed the participants. He added that the main objective of the conference is to clarify the robbery of history being done to the heritage and traditions of Tigray, especially Aini Wari and Ashenda, by the appointees of history.

The conference will discuss: the religious origins and celebration of Aini Wari and Ashenda, the values ​​of Aini Wari yesterday and today; Papers were presented on the role of stakeholders in ensuring tourism recovery and sustainable economic benefits. Based on these research papers, the questions and comments raised by the participants were answered and explained by the presenters of the research paper.
Finally, the Head of the Tigray Bureau of Culture and Tourism, Dr. Atsbeha Gebre-Egziabher, thanked the organizers of the paper and the participants of the conference and conveyed the message that Aini Wari and Ashenda should be celebrated without changing their religious content.
