In a successful collaboration between Aksum University and Professor Mesfin Haile of Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium, a special scientific seminar was recently held. The event centered on groundbreaking research in energy storage and computational science and featured keynote presentations followed by an engaging discussion.

Organized by the University’s Office of the Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer, the seminar was officially opened by Vice President Dr. Mekonen Aregay, who delivered a welcome address to all attendees.

Professor Mesfin Haile, the keynote speaker, gave two comprehensive lectures on frontier scientific topics:

• “Lithium-ion Battery & Beyond” focused on the current state of lithium-ion battery technology and explored next-generation energy storage solutions.
• “AI and Computational Materials Science: From Atoms to Applications” demonstrated the powerful role of artificial intelligence and computational methods in designing new materials, from the atomic level to real-world applications.

These presentations offered deep insights into critical fields, emphasizing the potential for innovation and international collaboration. The seminar wrapped up with a dynamic question-and-answer session.
