Key Academic Responsibilities:

- Managing student admissions, academic records, and graduation processes in coordination with university-level offices and professional licensing bodies.
💼 Administrative Operations
- Developing and managing the College’s annual budget in line with university policies and strategic priorities, particularly for medical equipment, laboratory supplies, clinical site access, and research grants.
- Overseeing procurement, infrastructure development (e.g., simulation labs, research facilities, student clinics), and efficient resource utilization for academic, clinical, and administrative needs across all departments.
- Implementing university-wide administrative policies and procedures to ensure smooth operations and compliance with health regulations.
- Facilitating effective communication and collaboration between departments, and with Aksum University Referral Hospital and other healthcare institutions.
👥 Student Services
- Assisting students with academic advising, course selection, and clinical placement processes, including guidance on internships and residency applications.
- Organizing student orientations, career guidance (e.g., in clinical practice, public health, research, medical laboratory roles), and extensive opportunities for hands-on clinical experience.
- Addressing student concerns, promoting student welfare, and fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages empathy, professionalism, and lifelong learning in healthcare.
- Supporting student professional organizations and extracurricular activities related to health sciences.
🔬 Research and Community Engagement
- Encouraging staff and student-led health research in areas critical to national and regional health priorities in Tigray, Ethiopia, such as infectious diseases, maternal and child health, non-communicable diseases, and public health interventions.
- Establishing strong partnerships with the Ministry of Health, regional health bureaus, NGOs, and other healthcare providers to foster collaborative research, provide specialized medical services, and facilitate knowledge transfer.
